CAIRO, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – Remittances from Egyptians employed abroad amounted to approximately $29.7 billion during the first seven months of 2026, according to official reports. The Central Bank of Egypt indicated that these inflows experienced a 28.1% increase from around $23.2 billion during the same period in 2025. The figures reflect the total money sent home by Egyptians working overseas and represent the latest official data for the year 2026. Compared to the same months in 2025, this total is roughly $6.5 billion higher.

Egypt remittances reached $29.7 billion through July 2026 after a 28.1% annual rise.
Egypt remittances reached $29.7 billion through July 2026 after a 28.1% annual rise.

In July alone, remittance inflows reached about $4.5 billion, marking a 20% rise from approximately $3.8 billion in July 2025. This monthly figure continued the upward trend seen earlier in the year; January saw remittances of about $3.5 billion, a 21% increase from $2.9 billion in January 2025. February’s inflows were around $3.8 billion, which is a 25.7% growth from $3.0 billion in February 2025. The combined remittances for January and February contributed roughly $7.3 billion to the total recorded during the first seven months of 2026.

On a fiscal-year basis, remittances totaled about $47.3 billion for 2025/2026, representing an increase of 29.6% compared to $36.5 billion in the fiscal year 2024/2025. In June 2026, inflows stood at approximately $4.2 billion, up from $3.6 billion in June 2025, a 15.6% rise. The overall increase for the fiscal year amounted to roughly $10.8 billion. These fiscal-year figures encompass July 2025 through June 2026, while the current total of $29.7 billion covers the period from January to July 2026.

    Remittance growth maintains double-digit momentum

Additionally, the Central Bank of Egypt announced that remittances reached a record $41.5 billion during the 2025 calendar year, which is 40.5% higher than the roughly $29.6 billion sent home in 2024. This jump translates to an increase of about $11.9 billion in dollar terms. During the first half of the 2025/2026 fiscal year, remittances totaled approximately $22.1 billion, compared to $17.1 billion during the same period in the previous year, reflecting a 29.6% rise.

Remittances in December 2025 hit about $4.0 billion, a 24% increase from $3.2 billion in December 2024, marking a record high for monthly inflows at that time. By January 2026, the cumulative fiscal-year inflows reached $25.6 billion, representing a 28.4% increase from $20.0 billion. The total then rose to approximately $29.4 billion by February, compared to $23.0 billion during the same month in the previous year, an increase of 28% over eight months.

Official figures reflect rising remittance flows in recent reporting periods

The upward trend persisted into spring, with remittances from July to March of fiscal 2025/2026 reaching about $34.9 billion, a 32% increase from $26.4 billion. By April, the total for ten months had climbed to approximately $39.2 billion, which is 33.2% above the $29.4 billion reported a year earlier. April alone saw inflows of about $4.3 billion, a 44% increase over $3.0 billion in April 2025, with the monthly gain in absolute terms amounting to roughly $1.3 billion.

By May, the fiscal-year remittances had grown to roughly $43.1 billion, a 31.2% increase from $32.8 billion during the same period in the previous year. May inflows reached about $3.9 billion, which is a 13.5% rise from approximately $3.4 billion. Over 11 months, the total exceeded the prior year’s figure by about $10.3 billion. The fiscal year concluded at $47.3 billion before July’s contribution pushed the 2026 calendar-year total to $29.7 billion. Throughout all recent official data, both cumulative and monthly figures remained above their corresponding figures from the previous year.
