The state visit broadened the framework of bilateral engagement, as Germany’s Federal Government characterized it as the first-ever state visit to Germany by a UAE president. During the visit, Sheikh Mohamed held talks with Chancellor Friedrich Merz, where the two leaders unveiled a new Strategic Dialogue. This platform aims to cover areas such as security, defense, trade, investment, energy, climate, technology, digitalization, transport, environment, culture, and education.
Enhanced strategic dialogue aims to deepen bilateral collaborations
Both governments supported initiatives such as establishing a German-UAE Investment Council to bolster the involvement of both public and private sectors, and they welcomed the resumption of the Joint Economic Committee along with positive outcomes from a bilateral business forum. According to the joint declaration, the visit resulted in 29 commercial agreements and memoranda valued at over 9.356 billion euros, and an additional UAE investment package worth 40 billion euros in Germany was also announced as part of these agreements.
Economic ties extend into energy, cutting-edge technology, and digital infrastructure, with the joint declaration outlining ongoing and planned efforts related to LNG, renewable energy, hydrogen, and energy efficiency projects. It also referenced plans for advanced data centers with approximately one gigawatt of capacity and identified artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies as key areas of cooperation within the broader partnership.

During their discussions in Berlin, the foreign ministers reviewed regional and international developments, focusing on the importance of intensified global efforts to foster sustainable peace and stability, and safeguard international security.
